Today I was intuitively drawn to a deck that I absolutely love the depiction and colours of.. but know absolutely butkins about lol.. it’s I Ching!

My very limited understanding is that it was used since Ancient China as a divination tool.. and the lines drawn in I Ching (6 stacks to me) alter and the difference between these, make the reading!.. but here’s a little more insight into the rest..

The I Ching consists of sixty-four six-line patterns, called hexagrams, which are built from the bottom up. These lines are grouped into two sets of three-line trigrams, with one stacked on top of the other. The individual lines are either yielding or broken lines (yin/female) or firm/solid lines (yang/male), which is determined by means of a casting ritual, traditionally done using coins or sticks but in this case, using cards. - Paul O’Brien

Above is a sample hexagram.. Each line represents one or more coin toss (btw the above makes no sense to me what so ever!!!.. I’ve added this as a sample I Ching drawing) designed for insight into current conditions but also managing current conditions over time. Amazing that this was used for intuitive decision making for a different perspective on resolving problems and dilemmas. Written text on this was used widely by 300 BCE.. pretty old and intertwined in day-to-day life then and now!

These hexagrams have so many variations in a reading.. especially when combined with another card and taking note of the lines (stack) that have changed between the two cards.. then read only the description of the changing lines from the book.. you will need to look at two cards at a time.. here we have past, present and future with bottom of the deck card/hexagram that should be read as an overview of everything.

I will begin the reading introducing our cards, followed by the I Ching progression.. and with the latter will let you know which entry in the book you need to read!.. remember the stacks work from the bottom up.. very much like a structure, pyramid or building the foundations of a house.. then conclude it with an intuitive reading of the cards and feel.

As always, these readings are generalised & as I do not use the book it is here only to add an extra dimension to your reading.. I do recommend that today you read the I Ching segment. If you find yourself drawn to todays reading there may be something in here for you. Take what resonates, throw away what doesn’t, this is a general reading.

I Ching Reading

In order to determine your reading you compare I Ching Hexagrams found on the top right of each card and cross-examine them with another card! The lines that are different is where the changes have happened or need to happen to resolve your situation!

I have broken it all down below:

Past to Present

Notice lines 1 - 4 & 6 are exactly the same.. read your msg on line 5 in your PAST book details below.

Past:

Present:

You've released the past and found the element in line 5 (references to the past that brought you here).. see below for 5 in the Present book..

and the transition from now to the future of this situation is almost entirely changed!.. All lines except line 5, have changed!.. which makes line 5 a point of attachment to me.

Present to future:

Everything except line 5 will change.. which makes me think that line 5 may need to be let go of or is a sticking point in your movement forward!

Future - emerging from the Foundation of your situation:

Cards 1 & 6 have changed.. beginning and end!

Future:

Everything except Line 5, has changed, from the present.. what’s in that line that you may need addressing now in order to bring in the abundance of the future?

Intuitive Card reading

Past

Right away with these cards there has been something in the past, could be a person, situation or job that proved a difficult start or it may have been a nee beginning in perspective, personal growth where you‘ve had to address perhaps an old way of thinking or doing things!

Whatever your circumstances, this will have come from an ending, too.. like the beginning phase of becoming single where a relationship has ended or where you have had to start a new job, move to a new home or back to a family home where you had to leave a previous situation behind you for new ventures where this may not have come by through your own choosing or choice. Take this as it resonates for you.

Thunder below water sounds difficult in itself but this card brings feelings of disjointed situations, fog covering the horizon (perhaps the lyrics in the song).. even the dripped black paint is awkward, spreading, tarnishing the blue sky somehow. They make it look like a tent sort of feel so if you find yourself perhaps going camping or to a festival in the near future, there may be a message here for you!

A difficult beginning with an emotional foundation but a lot of problems that emerged to the surface causing the rift and break away from what did not serve you causing you to move forwards to your present moment.

Present

There’s so much hope and magic in this card.. the light has brought back colours and definition to the elements and landscape in this card.. which makes me feel like immense clarity is coming!

Every new beginning starts because something else has ended.. when the start is difficult this tells me there have been difficulties before you changed this in your life.

If there are unresolved issues from the past.. youre about to have an ‘aha’ moment in your very near present!.. If it’s a change that’s happened within you it is something you need to address and the return to thinking and sorting this out may not be pleasant.. these are usually reminders, things that happen now that trigger something in you from the past. It will come to light as the card depicts a glow from the centre.. like the light has brought back detail into the landscape.. similarly when we have an aha moment, how things that transpired and you believed were one way.. is actually another! I was about to say in the words of Bob Marley.. the fog has lifted.. but they’re not his lyrics.. the words to this song I don’t think I’ve ever heard before popped up in my head I just had to look them up! The song is called ‘The Fog Has Lifted’ Song by Dolly Parton and Porter Wagoner. Personally not my thing, but look up the lyrics if for you it’s about someone in your past that affected you.. may be a message for you here.. the lyrics are beautiful!

Right!.. that sort of thing happens a lot haha.. moving on. While you’re doing the work on yourself or in a relationship or old job, Acknowledge it, do the work you need to because if it returns in your life causing all the triggers of something that hurt or affected you in the past.. it’s because it needs to be addressed so you can start a positive new chapter in your life. There is healing from this aspect in this card.. this may also mean someone from your past, that perhaps did you wrong, is returning to apologise, put things right and clear the remaining issues you have held onto until now.. or they have held onto you.

Just got a massive flush of goosebumps which really threw me off! If you’ve just had this happen there may be a message here for you!

Future:

The Cauldron to me has the resonance to

abundance.. the fire is lit and the cooking is underway with all the right ingredients; lessons learnt like forgiveness and understa ding maybe reconciliation or if not then perhaps a fresh abundant energy will emerge in the knowledge you have done the work, put the past where it belongs (old modems, old way of thinking, the old (not age) person in a relationship before growth) and start anew and afresh! Wind under Fire I would say would flame it!.. prepare for a positive outcome!!!

Foundation

The foundation is all about a sudden burst of energy.. at least this is what I take Great Bogor and the depiction to be. It could be that what happens is a great surprise to you when someone or something returns from your past! It could be that you have a sudden outburst of energy and make some dramatic changes in your life! This card feels like the energy and underneath sudden and swift energy with which this situation has been/is and will be crated!

Things may have been dramatically ended in the past, a surprise present and a lucky occurrence provides a jackpot feel for the future! Whatever has been happening to you.. has been an emotional turmoil; love/hate, anger/peace, loss and beginings.. it feels almost juxtaposed like the card’s colours in dark blue and white.

Trust in the process and go with the flow as these situations can bring about some strong emotions that are tricky to work through. Take time out if you need to, talk, be open to communication and be receptive to listen. Whatever is about to suddenly happen in your present life very soon if it has not happened already!.. will throw you into a positive new direction in life. A nee chapter and new beginning!

Retrograde brings about strong emotions and we are still riding the shadow side of it (after effects of it) but it always rewards us with clarity and luck!
